Sweet Pea: High Scent

$5.00

High Scent, also known as April in Paris, sweet peas earn their name — creamy ivory blooms brushed with a soft lavender edge, and one of the strongest fragrances of any sweet pea we grow. A few stems will perfume a whole room. Long-stemmed and prolific, this is our go-to cutting variety for spring bouquets at the farm. Sow in Oklahoma from late fall through very early spring — sweet peas love our cool season and shrug off light frost. The more you cut, the more they bloom.

If you have never experienced the intoxicating aroma of sweet peas, I am not sure you can say you have truly lived. There is simply nothing else like it. Growing sweet peas in Oklahoma takes a little trial and error the secret is fall sowing with protection when winter temperatures dip below 20 degrees. That small investment of extra care pays off spectacularly in spring with the most amazing, fragrant blooms you can imagine. Seeds saved from varieties I have grown on my farm, meaning they are increasingly adapted to our Oklahoma climate with each generation. Grown and harvested in Guthrie.
